Hey world at large! I think you all met my sis Puzzlemaster (This is from her :p ;p, she’s a bit off her rocker I think. I mean look at all the smiley faces she does. Nothing against them she’s just a pit too perky) well I’m…I don’t have a screen name yet…I’ll come up with something by the time this post ends….I think. Well I just wanted to share with you an amazing sport that totally changed my life. Quick question how many know how to shoot a bow and arrow?
Well archery has changed my life. I started in sixth grade and am a total addict for it. Personally it’s greater than shooting a gun, much more muscle and sweat put into one shot than anything I’ve experienced with a gun that I can lift. Some of those things get heavy! -_- there should be a rule against that in some Sci-Fi flick or something. They make it look so easy that or I’m just pathetically weak. ( -_- )Hoping for option one. It has a bloody history as well. Did you know in the Hundred Year War it totally kicked butt? And those bows were huge.
Not all fiberglass like they are now or compound (I personally think you cheat with those…support traditional and semi traditional archers! :D [Semi traditional is easier than traditional. Traditional has no shelf for the arrow. That is where the arrow goes when you notch it. Or put it on the string]) and I mean these bows were at least a half foot bigger than the person using them, especially since everyone was pretty small back then. And the arrows were much more deadly and quicker. Since with a cross bow you had to reload and drag it back, pick it back up and aim. And then repeat after you shot and try not to get hit. They’re good bows for a mass attack and when you have people covering you still, but not good for battle unless you have lots of room to work with.
The score basically went along like this: French Knights 0- English Archers lost count long time ago. This score is an exaggeration to show you how amazing these guys were. The French lost the Hundred Year War badly. But Joan of Arc did win her fights, so the English aren’t better to the French (Don’t know Joan of Arc…Google is your friend :D). The French did have their moments in battle.
And archery isn’t a dead sport either. I went to an archery tournament last year (I totally rushed everything and sucked. Oops. I think my score was six. :D) there were tons of people there. Almost 120, it isn’t a dead sport! So if you ever feel the sudden urged to shoot something (And not just because of the Hunger Games. Loved the book by the way. The movie was also amazing) you can go to a Exchange on the nearest military base or a sporting goods store and buy a bow, some arrows, and a target or make one for under $35 dollars at my last check. Hint pizza boxes taped together and stuffed with newspaper makes a great target.
It’s an amazing sport. Thank you for listening to me go on and on about the best sport there is. Next stop for me is learning how to shoot a gun as accurate as I can with a bow (I’ve greatly improved rest assured). I think it will come back so if you want to learn more just leave a message for….Arrowette, I love DC Comics! Look them up, there are two of Arrowette.
Photos will come later!
